170615 - Summer Blog 2015

First full day at home - finished work yesterday. Just an open night for LLL next Monday, then it's off for the Summer.
the garden is looking good. Some weeding (my favourite pastime I.D.T.!) and turnip thinning today. Chinese lanterns transplanted in the green house - It would be great to get a crop.
More to follow....

040414 Greenhouse

Started work on greenhouse today. Spent 115 Euro on treated timber. Slow to start, but taking my time to get the design right. Making the frame first - just completed one end wall, before the rain started, so far so good.

Seed Sowing 040314

I've 5kg of early seed potatoes chitting. I'm hoping to sow these before Paddy's Day - weather permitting (its been very wet, the ground is soaking.
I've just down my tomatoes seeds (Ailsa Craig) and the cucumbers (Iznik) In the propagator in the conservatory.
I've made an enquiry about constructing a lean-to greenhouse in 16mm mulitwall polypropoline. My existing one is beyond repair after the storm.

Olympics 270712

My Olympic blog starts here. We are all very excited to be going to London next week. The Irish are pinning most of their hopes on Katie Taylor, our female world champion boxer. Just to remind you that Katie has won 13 gold medals in boxing to date. Hopefully she can add to that tally in London. She is 26 from Bray & has been top of her sport (60kg) since 2005 - no pressure Katie!
